Privacy Policy
What FreeMock collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
In short
We collect the least we can get away with: an email address so you have an account, a wallet address so we can pay you, an approximate location so we can spot someone breaking into your account, and whatever you choose to post. We do not sell any of it.
Two things here work differently from most apps, and both are worth knowing before you rely on them. We cannot read your direct messages — they are encrypted on your device with keys we never receive. And we cannot erase a payment once it is sent, because it is recorded on a public blockchain that nobody controls.
What we collect
Your account
You sign in through Google or Apple. They tell us your email address, and that is what identifies your account. We never see, receive or store your password for those services, and we cannot sign in to them on your behalf.
We generate a username and display name for you. You can change them, and we keep whatever you set.
Your wallet
Signing in creates a crypto wallet for you automatically, or links one you already hold. We store the wallet address — but only after you have proven you control it by signing a message with it.
A wallet address is public information: anyone can look up its balance and history on the blockchain. We never hold your private keys, cannot move your funds, and cannot recover a wallet you lose access to.
Where you sign in from
When you sign in we send your IP address to a third-party lookup service and store the country and city it returns. This is how we notice a sign-in from somewhere unexpected. We do not collect GPS, street addresses, or anything more precise than a city.
What you post
Memes, posts, comments, reactions, profile and cover images. Images and video are stored with a third-party media host. Anything you post publicly is visible to anyone, including people without an account and search engines.
Your messages
Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted using the Signal protocol. They are encrypted on your device before they reach us, and the keys stay on your device. We store only the encrypted form.
The consequence cuts both ways: nobody at FreeMock can read your messages, and nobody at FreeMock can recover them for you. If you clear your browser data or lose your device, messages encrypted for it are gone permanently.
Your activity and earnings
We record the points you earn, your weekly ranking, and each weekly prize you win — the amount, the wallet address it was sent to, and the blockchain transaction that paid it.
Technical information
Like any website, our servers log requests: IP address, browser, and what was requested. We use these to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
Why we collect it
- To run your account — signing you in, showing your profile, delivering your messages.
- To pay you — a proven wallet address is the only thing we will send money to.
- To keep the platform safe — spotting unusual sign-ins, investigating reports, and stopping people gaming the ranking.
- To meet our obligations — keeping records of payments we have made.
Who else sees your data
We share only what a service needs to do its job. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
- Reown — powers sign-in and the wallet. Sees your social login and wallet activity.
- Our media host — stores and delivers the images and video you upload.
- An IP geolocation provider — receives your IP address and returns an approximate location.
- The Base blockchain — receives your wallet address and the amount whenever you cash out. This is public and permanent.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone from harm.
How long we keep it
Account data lasts as long as your account. Delete your account and we remove your profile, posts and comments.
Three things survive deletion, and we would rather say so plainly:
- Blockchain records. Payments already sent cannot be erased by us or anyone else.
- Messages you sent. They remain in the other person's copy of the conversation, as they would in any messaging app.
- Payment records we are required to keep.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable form, or stop using it in a particular way. Ask through the contact page and we will respond.
If you are in the UK or EU and think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first, but that right is yours regardless.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, and store your message encryption keys locally on your device. Our Cookie Policy covers what each one does and what happens if you block them.
Children
FreeMock is for people aged 18 and over, because it pays real money. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, store no passwords of yours at all, and require a cryptographic signature before paying out to any address. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app rather than made quietly.
